Chloe Zhao wins Golden Globe Award for Best Director

Chloe Zhao was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Director for The Land of the Nomads (2020). This was announced at the award ceremony, held via videoconference on Sunday 28 February. Broadcast by the TV company Nbc

The category also featured films such as David Fincher’s Munk, Florian Zeller’s Father, Aaron Sorkin’s Trial of the Chicago Seven, and Emirald Fennell’s The Promising Girl.

As the edition notes VarietyFor the first time, a female director won the main award for a dramatic film, and Zhao herself became the second woman to win a Golden Globe in the Best Director category.

Earlier it was reported that American Aaron Sorkin received the prestigious Golden Globe Award in the Best Screenplay nomination for his work on the film The Trial of the Chicago Seven (2020).

The Golden Globe Awards were established by foreign journalists in October 1943, and the first awards ceremony took place in January 1944. Until 1958, the ceremony was led by members of the Association of Foreign Journalists accredited to Hollywood, later they began to invite famous performers and professional TV presenters to play the leading role.
