Malcolm X’s daughters presented ‘new evidence’ implicating Police and FBI in his murder

The daughters of Malcolm X, an American human rights activist assassinated 56 years ago, claimed that there is a “new test” implicating the NYPD and the FBI in his murder at the Big Apple, according to local media. It’s about the posthumous confession of a policeman.

Qubiliah, Ilyasah Y Gamilah shabazz, accompanied by their lawyers, asked in a press conference that the authorities they reopen the case of the civil rights leader in light of a “new evidence” presented by the relative of a deceased undercover cop named Raymond Wood.

Wood confessed in a letter before he died that the Police (NYPD) and the FBI conspired to “undermine” the civil rights movement, and that their mission was to infiltrate to encourage its leaders and members to commit crimes.

In the letter, signed in 2011, the deceased police officer explained that he must infiltrate the movement “to find evidence of criminal activity and that the FBI could discredit and arrest their leaders“and that” under the direction “of his superiors he encouraged his members to” commit criminal acts “, the channel collects NBC.

Wood said he was responsible for the arrest of two members of Malcolm X’s security team days before the public address at the Audubon Ballroom, in the Washington Heights neighborhood (Manhattan), where was shot dead on February 21, 1965.

About a year before his assassination, Malcolm X had left the Nation of Islam, which prompted death threats from community members.

Three men were charged with the crime and sentenced to life imprisonment: Mujahid Abdul Halim (also known as Talmadge Hayer or Thomas Hagan), Muhammad Abdul Aziz (aka Norman 3X Butler) and Khalil islam (aka Thomas 15X Johnson). Islam passed away in 2009 and the other two are on parole.

“I participated in actions that in retrospect were deplorable and detrimental to the advancement of my own black people. My actions on behalf of the New York Police Department were made under duress and fear“read the confession, which was read by Wood’s relative.

One of Malcolm X’s daughters said she had lived through decades of uncertainty, declaring that “any evidence that further informs the truth after that terrible tragedy should be thoroughly investigated.”

The Manhattan prosecution said in February 2020 he was reviewing the case and that he had met with representatives of the Innocence Project after a Netflix documentary series raised questions about two of the men convicted in the case.

In a statement released to the media on Saturday, the NYPD said it has “provided all available records relevant to that case to the district attorney” and assured that the forces “remain committed to assisting with that review in any way.”
