Poland decided to urgently convene a summit because of Russia

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki decided to urgently convene a summit of the Visegrad Group – the unification of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. It is reported by RIA News citing data from the Government Information Center.

As noted, the event should be held online on April 26. It is connected with the “Russian issue” and solidarity with the Czech Republic due to the situation with the explosions at the ammunition depot in Vrbetica in 2014. “The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the situation against the background of the escalation of actions in recent weeks by the Russian Federation, the latest developments in Czech-Russian relations and an expression of solidarity and support for the actions taken by the Czech Republic,” the message says.

Earlier in April, the Czech Republic accused Russian intelligence agencies of involvement in the 2014 explosions at an ammunition depot in Vrbetica. After that, Moscow and Prague “exchanged” the expulsion of diplomats and will equalize the number of employees of the embassies.

Explosions at the ammunition depot took place on October 16 and December 3, 2014. As a result of the accidents, two people died. The reasons for the incidents have not been established. According to Prague, the Russians Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, whom Britain accuses of trying to poison Sergei Skripal, were there during the day to blow up the warehouse.

Of the four countries of the Visegrad group, only Hungary did not expel Russian diplomats following statements from the Czech Republic.
