I have, in the face of what happens, a vision between grateful and fearful: on the one hand I am grateful for having come to see these changes in the world and, on the other, I fear for the changes of this new world. Looking at disaster is hypnotic like looking at fire, and it also allows us to think about how to defend ourselves against it. OK, this is fate, how are we going to deal with it. Those looking for scoops can continue reading the rest of this journal; you won’t find any here.
The following is the result of an archival work, all the information was published and the conclusion that follows is plain and simple: Neither the first year of the pandemic nor this second did the Government know how to react to the problems that arose; he minimized them, then he denied them, later he believed them solved and now he seeks a desperate solution with the electoral almanac on the forehead. If you want to know who is to blame for what happens, check out this timeline:
February 5, 2020, Ginés González García:
“I’m more concerned about dengue than the coronavirus.” Remember that the coronavirus was already hitting Europe.
“There is a very low possibility that the virus will reach the country” -said our First Sanitarista.
By this logic, the government belatedly closed the borders.
March 5, 2020, Ginés again:
“So much fear is unnecessary.”
March 12, 2020, Alberto Fernandez:
“The WHO recommends that you drink a lot of hot drinks because heat kills the virus.” The data was obviously false.
March 15, 2020.
With 56 positive cases throughout the country, Alberto Fernández announced the suspension of classes for fifteen days. There were no classes again for the whole year.
March 19, 2020.
Preventive and mandatory social isolation is announced from March 20 to 31.
March 30, 2020, Ginés returns:
“By statistics the flu is much worse than the coronavirus.”
March 30, 2020, Alberto on an Instagram live.
“We are dominating the virus”. A triumphal climate of style is installed “We are wining”.
Chaos with retirees in the reopening of banks.
The Government announces measures to strengthen the health system. Therapy beds were increased, respirators were bought and modular hospitals were erected At the end of May – it would be tiring to reproduce them all – they begin the kermese of when the peak is going to arrive. Peak it just arrived on October 19.
With the partial flexibilities came the battles of the runners and the tennis players. In this last confrontation the epidemiological theory of Dr. Gollan, provincial Minister of Health, goes down in history, which reads: “Every tennis player wipes his nose and forehead with his hand, grabs the ball that goes to the other player and then the boys who reach for the balls catch it. Do not tell me that there is no contagion, because they are handling the same balls with the same mucus “.
July 10, 2020.
The Government receives Pfizer.
August 12, 2020.
The Government announces that it will produce the AstraZeneca vaccine together with Hugo Sigman and Carlos Slim.
August 13, 2020, Axel Kicillof:
“The vaccine changed our lives.”
At that point, the euphoria led to think that it was all over. In fact, Covid spending was not included in the 2021 Budget.
November 2, 2020.
The President announces the arrival of the Russian vaccine: “Ten million of each of the two doses and fifteen million more in January”. As of today, Russia has met 26% of its commitment for the summer. AstraZeneca, with just 3% of what was agreed.
Today 19.8% of the population has the first dose and only 5.5% have both doses.
there is already plus seventy-six thousand dead.
This is what happened: the Government did not have or is not efficient enough to manage this crisis or – I personally believe – any other. That, just to talk about 2021, they haven’t seen the second wave coming is from criminal negligence. What is happening to us is not chance, or fate, or bad luck, or a conspiracy by the Chinese or the laboratories. The Government keeps awake in small, miserable, power fights and does not take care of us.
