Thanks to a nice final sprint led by the returned national coach Bert van Marwijk, the national football team of the United Arab Emirates has qualified as group winner for the next round in the Asian qualifying tournament for the World Cup. In Dubai, competitor Vietnam was defeated 3-2. As a result, UAE climbed to first place in the final standings of Group G.
