After vandalism, homage to Marielle Franco is revitalized in SP

A painting in honor of Rio de Janeiro councilor Marielle Franco, murdered in 2018, was revitalized this Saturday (July 31, 2021) in São Paulo. The work, which is in the Pinheiros neighborhood, was the target of attacks on Thursday night (July 29) and dawned with the inscription “Viva Borba Gato”.

On July 24, the statue of the pioneer Borba Gato was set on fire in the capital of São Paulo in an act against the government of Jair Bolsonaro.

The restoration of the mural in honor of the Rio councilor was carried out by partners from the Instituto Marielle Franco.

In her official Twitter profile, federal deputy Talíria Petrone (Psol-RJ) echoed the action. “They can try, but they will never be able to stop the spring. Marielle Franco Staircase Being Revitalized Today”, said.

The Marielle Franco Institute profile also posted on its Instagram about the revitalization. “But today, in one act, partners have already carried out the revitalization and showed that against all hatred and racism, we will always be resistance”.
