The National Association of Parents (ANPF) spoke for a gradual, orderly and safe return to school; However, he added that he will continue to support the decision of those parents who do not wish to return their children to face-to-face classes, until they regain the confidence to do so.
After President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has stated that a return to school is necessary, the association said that will support the decisions of the president and the Secretary of Public Education, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, in the sense that the return to face-to-face classes cannot be postponed any longer for the school year that begins on August 30.
“Those of us who are part of the National Association of Parents, we demonstrate in the sense of continuing to support the decision of those parents who do not wish to return their children to face-to-face classes, due to the different kinds of unfounded fears, until they themselves regain the confidence to do so, “they said in a statement.
The ANPF said it agrees with the views of UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore and UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay, who warned that 18 months have passed since the covid-19 outbreak began and the education of millions of children remains disrupted, which should not continue.
“Schools should be the last to close and the first to reopen. The losses children and young people will suffer from not being in school may never be recovered. From the loss of learning, mental anguish, the consequences for children will be felt in their academic performance and their social commitment, as well as in their physical and mental health ”, according to the international authorities.
