The certificate of vaccination against the coronavirus in Bolivia, ‘the last cry of fashion’ among young people

The vaccination certificate against coronavirus is the “latest fashion trend” among the youth of Bolivia As if it were a concert, they make long lines early to receive the first dose of the vaccine.

Since last Thursday the Government extended the immunization age to those over 18, it is common to see long lines outside the vaccination centers of Bolivians between 18 and 29 years old who see in the vaccine an “approach to normality”.

The cold that plagues much of the country these days and the time it takes to wait in the long lines it does not overshadow the same enthusiasm of these young people.

This Monday many came accompanied by their parents or grandparents in a sample that, as they themselves affirm, “It is the responsibility of the whole family” take steps to protect yourself from the disease and the vaccine is one of them.

A group of clowns entertained one of the lines in La Paz while waiting their turn with giant syringes, dressed as doctors and with masks with big smiles.

Like them, many groups of young artists, who have been greatly affected by the pandemic , enthusiastically receive the vaccine and it isthey will soon resume their activities, their source of livelihood.

The general consensus among young people is that the vaccine “it’s a great opportunity” to decrease the chances of contracting the virus and called on adults to get vaccinated as well.

A young man even said that his father had not yet been vaccinated and that it motivated him to they went together for their first dose.

The “selfies” in line, at the time of the vaccine and with the vaccination certificate, they are repeated in the different authorized points that have been overwhelmed by the increase in people seeking the vaccine.

In cities like Santa Cruz, the authorities are analyzing extending the vaccination schedule at night and in La Paz a massive day of immunization will be held on July 11 due to the demand of people who want to be vaccinated against covid-19.

The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce , extended vaccination last week to those over 18 years of age before an eventual fourth wave of the pandemic due to the level of contagion among the youngest of the new variants of the virus.

The cases in Bolivia have been decreasing, which would be an indication of a de-escalation of the third wave of covid-19 that since May reached a record of daily infections of more 3,000 and more than a hundred deaths in a single day.

Since vaccination began at the end of January in the country already 2,762,994 people have been vaccinated between the first and second doses with the Sputnik V, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and Pfizer vaccines.

Bolivia has accumulated 444,968 infections and 16,951 deaths since the first cases were detected in March 2020.
