The National Electoral Institute approved that in the elections of 2022 older adults be considered again to supervise, train or be poll workers, since being vaccinated reduces the risk of infections for which they were excluded in the federal process this year, but they must sign a letter of knowledge of risk.

The counselor Dania Ravel stressed that this restriction of not hiring people aged 60 years or more has been eliminated, “although we have not yet been able to overcome the context of pandemic, the truth is that many people have already managed to have their vaccination and therefore the risk that we had and that we had warned about last year is no longer the same and we could no longer possibly put people in a situation where they could be in seriousness ”.

Older adults hired for training and supervision must sign a statement of knowledge of risks that includes their vaccination status, to guarantee that they are protected.

They also unanimously approved the vote of Mexicans living abroad for the electoral processes in Aguascalientes, Durango, Oaxaca and Tamaulipas.

The INE pledged that it will consult indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples and communities regarding the adjustment in electoral districts and location of seats for the next electoral process, as it includes the formation of indigenous districts with 40 percent or more of the population of this sector.

INE recognizes the work of Patricio Ballados

The General Council of the INE took the opportunity to bid farewell and acknowledge the Executive Director of Prerogatives and Political Parties, Patricio Ballados, who will leave office next Tuesday.

“Patricio is part of the generation of civil servants who with satisfaction and thus must assume it, have been builders of this institution that has become, thanks to the work of its entire structure, but in particular of civil servants with the commitment of Patricio Ballados, in the institution of greatest appreciation among citizens, “said President Counselor Lorenzo Córdova.

The counselor Claudia Zavala acknowledged that Ballados leaves a mark on the INE and paid off in favor of the party system, for being a person who listens, projects and is not afraid to innovate.

Ballados was in charge of this direction for seven years. MILLENNIUM published that Ballados announced his resignation in March, with the commitment to make it effective until the electoral process concluded and the assignment of federal councils ended.
