The New Media Academy, the first academy in the field of digital media in the Middle East, completed its first year with qualitative programs and achievements that enriched the digital economy sectors and its strategic initiatives with qualified cadres and empowered talents with knowledge and experience, achieving its mission in education, training, and content development, by empowering Arab content creators, Qualifying creators with advanced digital life skills, preparing a generation of strategy designers, digital platform experts, and professional content creators, according to the highest international standards, and giving creators the ability to achieve financial returns, devote themselves to creative work, and reach Arab digital content to wider horizons. It has trained 35,000 digital professionals, launched a series of quality programs and courses, and attracted two million in 12 months.
The Academy, since its launch by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on June 15, 2020, has supported opening new horizons for individuals and institutions to benefit from the opportunities of the digital economy, as well as developing Professional Arabic content, according to international standards.
On the level of training and education, more than 35,000 trainees from 46 countries participated in 9 New Media Academy programs launched in its first year, with 1.2 million educational minutes, in cooperation with more than 15 distinguished influencers, experts and international academics.
The Academy also provided training services to more than 100 institutions from the public and private sectors, and provided exclusive specialized training to more than 40 leaders in the communication and marketing sectors in many government institutions.
In terms of supporting Arab content makers, the first academy of its kind in the region managed, during its first year, to graduate more than 200 professional content makers from 16 countries, who were able to triple the total number of their followers from 660,000 to 2 million social media followers.

Al-Awadi pointed out that «the Academy has created new economic opportunities, especially in the sectors of the digital economy, in line with the promising national initiatives that focus on strengthening the digital economy, and developed the Arab content industry, strengthened digital strategies, and employed global expertise to prepare an empowered generation of professional competencies capable of providing The ideal civilized image of our Arab region.
The new generation
Al-Awadi stressed that the Academy’s programs graduate the new generation of leaders in the digitization economy, creativity, innovation and technological leadership, and contribute to empowering content makers based on positivity, knowledge, mutual respect and interaction with cultures and societies, highlighting common human points, and building bridges of fruitful communication between the Arab region and the world, which It benefits societies and people.
A group of qualified
Al-Awadi added: “Our goal at the New Media Academy is to empower a group of qualified professionals in the disciplines of designing content strategies, managing digital platforms, and creating creative content in promising new disciplines such as technology, aerospace, medicine, sustainability and real estate development. We also contribute to providing courses and programs that allow preparing world-class influencers and developing the capabilities of talented creators to be able to generate independent income from their creativity and devote themselves to innovation, and enrich the Arabic content, which currently constitutes 1 percent of the content available on the Internet.”
Al-Awadi said: “The first months of the academy’s launch witnessed partnerships with influencers who are followed by millions in the region, which enhanced their capabilities and professional expertise, achieved rewarding returns for them, and enriched the meaningful and useful Arabic content. In the next phase, the Academy will continue to empower the region’s talents with digital and creative skills, tools for planning, design, content manufacturing and managing digital platforms, and to develop strategies in cooperation with local and regional influencers and global experts, as part of the Academy’s keenness to transfer knowledge and expertise to young people and emerging talents in the region.” Al-Awadi commended the efforts of all the New Media Academy’s cadres, experts, lecturers and trainers cooperating with it, praising their role in enhancing the region’s capabilities in the field of digital skills, digital marketing, the achievement of creative content and presenting the true image of the Arab region and its values with world-class ideas and innovations.
