Nike sent workers on an anti-stress vacation

Sportswear maker Nike has sent U.S. headquarters employees on vacation to cope with stress. The company management decided to take care of the mental health of the staff during the coronavirus pandemic, which often leads to increased anxiety. writes The Guardian.

The company said employees will rest until Friday, September 4 – they don’t have to show up for a week. The department leaders urged subordinates during this period to ignore all work messages and responsibilities in order to restore mental health.

“Don’t work, take time to relax and be with loved ones. In the past two years, as we fight the pandemic, rest has become more important than ever to stay healthy and productive, ”Nike Senior Global Marketing Manager Matt Marrazzo told staff.

Caring for the mental health of employees puts Nike on a par with other companies that have already given employees additional free time to protect them from burnout.

A month ago, Bumble, a dating service similar to Tinder, acknowledged that telecommuting and constant video calls blurred the line between employees’ personal and professional lives. As a solution, the company’s management allowed workers to take unlimited paid leave.
