Four groups promoted a protest against presenter Sikêra Jr. in front of “RedeTV!”, this Thursday night (26), in São Paulo (SP), in continuity with the “#DesmonetizaSikera” campaign, after the homophobic speeches by anchor.

A truck was parked in front of the station and showed the homophobia crimes committed by Sikêra Jr. in RedeTV!’s “National Alert”. The idea of holding the protest with the vehicle was to avoid crowding during the coronavirus pandemic.

The protest was an initiative of Sleeping Giants Brasil, which is demanding from companies the withdrawal of sponsorship in products that involve Sikêra, from the LGBTQIA+ channel “Põe na Roda”, from All Out Brasil and from the LGBTI Alliance.

In addition to the protest in front of the station, the groups took the “Desmontruck”, as they named the truck, in front of the company “Ultrafarma”, which did not withdraw its sponsorship from Sikêra Jr and continues as one of the biggest sponsors of its program. Earlier, the Sleeping Giants Brazil group announced that Marisa was the 131st company to withdraw the advertisement for products that involve the presenter.

In June, Sikêra Jr. referred to homosexuals as “a disgraced race” and became the target of a lawsuit drafted by the National LGBTQIA+ Alliance. The anchor of “Alerta Nacional”, a RedeTV news program, mocked the repercussion of his statements and said that there is a “waiting line” of companies to sign with him. In his program, he reaffirmed that the “opinion remains the same”.
