It is July 20, 5 am in the morning when 17 police officers are suddenly banging on Nard Houben’s door. They had loosened the chain from the gate with a grinding wheel. Exactly one month earlier, Houben had found the body of Conings in the Dilserbos (Belgium). “Drunk, I opened the door in my underpants,” he begins his story. “Out of nowhere they informed me that I was being arrested for illegal possession of weapons.
