The Ministry of Security made official this Friday the increase to $ 5 million of the reward offered to those who provide reliable information about the whereabouts of the police of the City of Buenos Aires Arshak Karhanyan, who has been missing since February 2019.
Through the Resolution 424/2021, published this Friday in the Official Gazette, with the signature of Minister Sabina Frederic, it was established that those who offer information may do so at the telephone number 134 or the e-mail denuncias@minseg.gob.ar.
“Dispose of the increase in the reward offered in a timely manner through Resolution MS No. 544/2019 to the total sum of $ 5,000,000, intended for those people who, without having intervened in the criminal act, provide useful data that serve to find the whereabouts of Arshak Karhanyan, an Armenian, who would have been seen for the last time on February 24, 2019, “the regulation stated.
The measure was made official after President Alberto Fernández received the family of the missing police officer on Tuesday.
Fernández, accompanied by the ministers of Justice, Martín Soria, and of Security Frederic, received Vardush Davtyan, Kharanyan’s mother, at the Government House.

The case
Karhanyan was seen for the last time on February 24, 2019, he was frank and at night he had arranged to meet a young woman. Leonel Herba (32), his partner in the force, went to look for him at his home, on Avenida Directory 963, in Caballito. Arshak he attended him on the sidewalk and a security camera recorded the moment.
It was 12:46. According to the family of the missing officer, he looked somewhat uncomfortable with the conversation lasting just over half an hour. The video also shows that Herba made him listen to an audio from your cell phone to Arshak. The content of the message was never known since when the experts checked the cell phone, the messages they had been erased.
Karhanyan, 29, studied at the UTN, is a systems and technology specialist, and worked at the Caballito neighborhood police station located on Valle Street, after having gone through the cybercrime area and the Expositions Division.
After the talk with his partner in force, Arshak, who lived on the sixth floor, he went upstairs to get his wallet, his service pistol and left.
At home he left his iPhone. He did not use his motorcycle to go to the Primera Junta station of the subway A to withdraw money from the ATM. In 2014, Karhanyan joined the Metropolitan Police, where he worked in the area of Cybercrime and participated as an expert in the investigation by the death of prosecutor Alberto Nisman.
With the creation of the City Police, he was assigned to the Investigations Division and later transferred to the neighborhood police station 7B. At the same time, he was studying computer engineering at the National Technological University (UTN).
The case for “whereabouts investigation” of Arshak is being processed at the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 2, in charge of the prosecutor Santiago Vismara.
