In Tunisia, thousands of people took to the streets on September 26 to protest against what they consider a “coup” by the President of the Republic, Kaïs Said, after adopting exceptional measures that would allow him to govern by decree. The protesters gathered chanting slogans against the president and demanding his resignation, in what is seen as the largest display of public nonconformity since Said fired his prime minister and suspended parliament in July. .
