Berlin – Like the Union, the FDP is now increasingly warning of a left alliance after the federal election. “Red-red-green R2G coalition negotiations are already being prepared publicly in front of all of us,” wrote FDP Vice-Chairman Alexander Graf Lambsdorff on Monday night on Twitter. And with a view to the SPD chancellor candidate, the SPD party chairman and the top candidate of the left, he added: “Whoever votes for Olaf Scholz is actually voting for Saskia Esken and Dietmar Bartsch. Nobody who votes for the SPD should say afterwards that he or she did not know. “
The upturn in the SPD’s polls makes a coalition of the SPD, the Greens and the Left Party appear possible. Scholz does not rule this out, especially since an SPD party congress resolution of 2013 forbids him to do so, but repeatedly classifies the Left as not capable of forming a coalition in terms of foreign and security policy. Nevertheless, the left wants to promote social change in such a left alliance this Monday. The Union has been attacking Scholz for days because of his stance – also in view of its own weak polls – and accusing him of not taking a clear position. (dpa)
