The economy of São Paulo has been recovering faster than the federal one. In the 2nd quarter, the State’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) grew 7.1%, while the national result was only 1.8%. At the time of the result, Doria said it wasn’t “a stroke of luck” it is the result of management and planning.
In August, the governor criticized President Jair Bolsonaro (non-party) for the “incompetence of the federal government in managing the economy”. He gave the statement by stating that the blame for the increase in fuels “it is not” the ICMS (Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services), attributed by the State.
Doria disputes the pre-candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic by the PSDB. There is competition from the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite.
