Russian Sergei Malyshev won the bronze medal at the Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo on Saturday, September 4, following the results of the 50m shooting competition.
In the final, Malyshev scored 196.8 points.
The first place was taken by an athlete from India Manish Narwal with a score of 218.2 points, the second – by his compatriot Singrai, who scored 216.7 points.
The athletes competed in the SH1 category, which affects persons with musculoskeletal disorders, specifies “Sport-Express“.
45-year-old Malyshev is an Honored Master of Sports of Russia. In the past, he twice became the silver medalist of the Paralympics, namely in 2008 and 2012. In addition, in 2014, the athlete became the winner of the World Championship.
Earlier that day, September 4, during the Paralympics, Russian athlete Andrei Vdovin won the silver medal in the 200 m race. His result was 22.24 seconds.
More than 200 athletes from the Russian Federation participate in the Paralympics. Russian Paralympians, like Olympians, cannot participate in the tournament under the country’s flag due to the restrictions of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). They act under the abbreviation RPC (Russian Paralympic Committee) and under the white flag with the coat of arms of the PKR.
In Japan, 539 sets of awards will be played in 22 sports. Badminton and taekwondo entered the Paralympics program for the first time. The competition will last until September 5th.
