Swedish golfer Broberg wins Dutch Open, Van Driel shared fourth | Other sports

Swedish golfer Kristoffer Broberg has won the Dutch Open in Cromvoirt. On the last day on the Bernardus golf course, the 35-year-old Scandinavian had enough with a round of par (72 strokes) to secure his second title on the European Tour.

Broberg had a total of 265 strokes. The German Matthias Schmid finished in second place 3 strokes from the winner and the Spaniard Alejandro Cañizares ended up in third place with a score of 270.

Darius van Driel secured the shared fourth place in the final standings. With a final lap of 69 strokes, he managed to move up three places in the standings. With the Belgian Thomas Detry he closed the tournament in Brabant with a score of 273 strokes. For Van Driel this year it was his fifth final classification in the top 10 of an event on the European Tour.

Broberg won his first title at the BMW Masters nearly six years ago. That final victory was good for a profit premium of more than 1 million euros. After that, the Swede had to wait a long time for his second triumph on the European Tour. In Cromvoirt he was finally the best again. He collected an amount of approximately 166,000 euros in Brabant.

61 strokes

Broberg struck on Saturday with a 61-stroke round. He was therefore able to start the last day with a lead of no less than eight strokes. However, Broberg struggled to control his nerves on his fourth lap. He started with a birdie, but then had three bogeys. Thanks to a birdie on the seventeenth hole, he was able to play his last hole (par) with confidence.

Van Driel didn’t miss a beat in his stable fourth round. With three birdies, he was able to improve his position in the rankings. He was left with an amount of approximately 46,000 euros from the four days in Cromvoirt.

Sven Maurits used 70 strokes for his final round. With a total of 280 strokes he ended up neatly in joint 27th place. Rowin Caron, Philip Bootsma (both 38th with a score of 282), Mike Toorop (50th with 284), Lars van Meijel (58th with 285), Daan Huizing (69th with 288), Nordin van Tilburg (74th with 290) and Koen Kouwenaar (76th with 297) were also still active for their own audience in the closing weekend.
