The United States and Ukraine will continue to try to hold Russia accountable for “aggression”

The United States and Ukraine decided to continue their attempts to bring Russia to justice for the so-called “aggression”. It is reported by TASS citing a joint statement by Washington and Kiev.

Thus, according to the two countries, Russia violated the rule regarding Ukraine not to change borders by force. Moscow allegedly “violated this basic rule” regarding Kiev.

Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Lyubchenko said that Russia is not a subject of discussion at the talks between Ukrainian and US officials during the visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. At a meeting with his American counterpart, Zelensky intended to discuss Donbass, Crimea and security in the Black and Azov Seas. Zelensky also called the United States a strategic partner of Ukraine and a supporter of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

On August 31, Zelensky and his wife Elena flew to Washington to meet with Biden. Zelensky expressed confidence that there will be a discussion of important issues of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States.

Crimea became part of Russia in March 2014 after a referendum in which the overwhelming majority of those who voted in the region supported such a decision. Ukraine, the EU countries and the United States refused to recognize the results of the vote, calling the reunification of the peninsula with mainland Russia an annexation.
