Afghanistan WSJ: Isis of Afghanistan has recruited U.S.-trained soldiers

The Taliban sees soldiers who have previously cooperated with the United States as their opponents.

Afghanistan Isis has succeeded in recruiting several members of a U.S.-trained special and intelligence force, The Wall Street Journal.

According to the newspaper, the Afghan branch of Isis, or Isis-K, is successful in recruiting because it is the only credible counterweight to Taliban forces within the country. The Taliban sees soldiers who have previously cooperated with the United States as their opponents.

“In some areas, Isis has become very attractive to those left behind. Currently, Isis is the only military group besides the Taliban, ”said a WSJ interviewee Rahmatullah Nabil, who previously served as head of the Afghan intelligence force.

Isisin the number of soldiers who have moved into the ranks is not large, but they are feared to bring to the extremist organization skills important in warfare and intelligence.

Much of the police and soldiers who worked for the fallen regime in Afghanistan have been unemployed since the change of power. Many also fear retaliation from the Taliban, even though the new regime has promised not to threaten those who worked on the side of the former regime.

In addition to protecting from the Taliban, Isis is able to pay salaries for soldiers moving to his side, according to The Wall Street Journal.
