But in a country where year-to-date inflation has already reached 10.25%, the dollar is hitting R$ 5.60 and products such as cooking gas, gasoline and meat reach increasingly higher prices, what will the Brazilian can buy with this amount?

everything more expensive

Starting with the purchase of the market, in August, Procon, in partnership with the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese) published a survey in which the basic food basket in the capital of São Paulo reached R$ 1,064.69.

Factors such as the foreign market, the increase in the price of the production chain and the drought explain why these prices are not going to drop anytime soon.

Speaking of beef and chicken, the scenario doesn’t get any better: the former rose almost 25% in a 12-month period, while the latter, often used as a cheaper option, is 29% more expensive. Cuts considered third, such as chicken leg, neck and carcass became desired options. Images of butcher shops selling ox bones are also common, something that was given away as thanks years ago.

If you can make the purchase of food of the month, you will also need to buy cooking gas. According to the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), the average price of the canister in the penultimate week of October reached R$ 101.96, an increase of 1.51% in one week and 36.4% in the year.

Those who depend on their car to work are also feeling the weekly increases in fuel in their pockets: the average price of a liter of gasoline went from R$ 6.21 to R$ 6.36 in two weeks, considering the average for Brazilian states.
