Dollar closes down 0.31%, at R$5.5553 on sale

SAO PAULO (Reuters) – The dollar closed down against the real on Wednesday, after fluctuating between highs and lows during an unstable trading session, just before one of the most awaited monetary policy decisions in recent times.

The Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) announces its decision on basic interest rates this Wednesday, starting at 6:30 pm (GMT).

The dollar traded on the interbank market fell 0.31%, to 5.5553 reais, after fluctuating between 5.5374 reais (-0.63%) in the low and 5.593 reais (+0.36%) in the high of the session.

At B3, where business goes beyond 5 pm, the dollar futures had a drop of 0.28% to 5.5550 reais.
