Anvisa says that 2 Brazilians preliminarily presented positive results for Ômicron – ISTOÉ DINHEIRO

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) reported on Tuesday that two Brazilians had preliminarily positive laboratory results for the micron variant of the coronavirus.

According to the agency, the samples will be sent for confirmatory laboratory analysis by the Instituto Adolfo Lutz, after initial testing carried out by the Albert Einstein laboratory with a positive result for the new virus variant originally identified in southern Africa.

According to national protocols, the material must be sent to the Adolfo Lutz Institute (IAL) for the purpose of confirming the genetic sequencing.

“Anvisa also officiated the Ministry of Health and the State and Municipal Health Secretariats of São Paulo on the health event identified on today’s date for the adoption of relevant public health measures”, said Anvisa.

The two people are a Brazilian passenger coming from South Africa who disembarked in Guarulhos on the 23rd and who underwent a PCR test along with his wife with the aim of returning to the African country when he was diagnosed, informed Anvisa.
