The 84-year-old entertainer was sentenced to between three and ten years in prison in 2018. More than 60 women had complained. Cosby appealed. He complained that a statement the actor once made in another lawsuit had been used. He thought that the judiciary could never use that statement against him, but in the end it did. Prosecutors have thereby violated his rights, according to Cosby. In June, the actor was proved right and he was released.
His lawyers and prosecutors differ on the promises surrounding Cosby’s statement. Partly because of the lack of clarity, the prosecutors want the Supreme Court to consider the case.
