Consultant and Head of the Dermatology Division at the Emirates Medical Association, Dr. Anwar Al Hammadi, revealed the introduction of 3 new drugs to treat severe eczema in the country, in addition to the emergence of new treatments for some genetic diseases, most notably the treatment of “fish” disease.

During the Fifth Annual Dermatology Conference, which started yesterday, Al Hammadi said that new treatments for rare genetic diseases, most notably the treatment of “fish” and other diseases, were revealed, all of which are in the final stages of clinical trials, expecting that they will see the light and become available to all patients soon.

Al Hammadi stated that the conference revealed the introduction of three new biological drugs to treat severe eczema in the country, bringing the total number of drugs treating this disease to 4, all of which were approved in the country, which is a revolution in the treatment of this type of disease.

According to Al Hammadi, eczema is a skin disease that appears in the form of red spots on the face, and causes cracks in the skin, resulting in bleeding, and making the skin more like a barren land.

He pointed out that eczema is one of the most prevalent skin diseases in the United Arab Emirates, but its symptoms and ways to manage it are still surrounded by many misconceptions, which may lead to the consolidation of the social stigma resulting from it and have many negative effects on those affected by it, and we see in promoting awareness Eczema is a first step towards providing patients with the information needed to ensure their disease is managed safely and effectively

Al Hammadi indicated that the conference also revealed a new method for treating hereditary hair loss, through an injection, for the first time, with an effective effect in treating the disease.

He pointed out that the conference is being held in the presence of a group of doctors and specialists, in light of the country’s recovery and the world’s recovery from the repercussions of the Corona pandemic.

The conference, which is being held at the Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai, will be attended by 200 medical professionals specializing in dermatology from 30 different countries around the world.
