In Jyväskylä an exceptionally tough level championship competition was played on Saturday. As many as 13 new Finnish records were set in the race.
The women’s hardest result was in charge Maria Kojoukhova, which pulled an unprecedented 52 approved jaws. She became the first woman to break the 50-jaw limit.
The previous record for the women’s series was 46 chin, by Kojoukhova and Heli Heikkinen shared.
Kojoukhova, 32, who competed in the 50-kg women’s series, told the Finnish Leo Pull Association in the bulletin surprised by the result.
“I’m a little confused, but really happy. I am excited if I could improve the result with one more replay at the World Championships, ”said Kojoukhova, who lives in Kirkkonummi.
Men the 33-year-old firefighter from Salo was responsible for the hardest result Joonas Mäkipelto. He drew the toughest result ever in the men’s series: 67 approved jaws.
The previous record in Mäkipello’s own name improved in one replay.
The carp race, which competed in the 80-pound series, described its performance as almost perfect.
“This was the best day I could have. 70 did not break yet, which was the goal, but must be satisfied. Let’s then try to get the 70 jaws I have been chasing for a couple of years at the World Championships, ”said Mäkipelto.
The World Championships in Repetitive Jaw Pulling and Extra Weight Jaw Pulling will be held in Helsinki next January.
