As of today, Austria is again in lockdown. The 2G rule applies across the board. The government does not see the end of the restrictions for unvaccinated people.
Vienna – For the fourth time, the federal government has imposed a new lockdown in Austria. Museums, fitness studios, cinemas and zoos will again be temporarily closed. Citizens are only allowed to leave their own four walls with a valid reason. The good news: For the time being, the strict Corona measures apply until December 13th, giving hope for a Christmas party without a lockdown. However, this only applies to vaccinated persons and genesis.
Corona in Austria: Lockdown for unvaccinated people with no end date
For those who have not been vaccinated, it looks very different: As Austria’s Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg announced a few days ago in an interview on oe24.TV, the lockdown is going on for everyone who has not yet been immunized against the corona virus, namely without an end date. About 66 percent of Austrians are currently vaccinated and thus exempt from the restrictions earlier.
Unvaccinated people in Austria face severely restricted Christmas and a compulsory vaccination
The valid reasons for the current exit restrictions include a walk and sport in the open air, but visiting family on Christmas Eve or getting gifts in advance in a store that is not part of their daily needs is something unvaccinated people are unlikely to get in the event of a persistent lockdown be allowed.
And with a current 7-day incidence of 1072.2 (as of RKI from November 22, 2021), it is unlikely that the government will loosen the massive restrictions for unvaccinated people anytime soon. In addition, they are planning to introduce mandatory corona vaccination as early as February 2022. (dpa)
