Expert on statistics and modeling at the Center for Economic Research Aghasi Tavadyan in an interview with RIA News stated that Russia has already overcome the plateau in terms of COVID-19 infection.

The scientist made the corresponding statement, relying on the map of Russian regions in terms of the prevalence of COVID-19. According to him, the current situation can be assessed as positively stable, in 68 regions the rate of spread of coronavirus is fading away.

The specialist noted that a plateau for registered cases throughout the country has been reached, this figure continues to decline since the beginning of the year. At the moment, the most favorable indicator for the extinction of the pandemic is observed in Moscow.

Also, the so-called “green” regions, where the prevalence rate is less than 0.9, include the Pskov Region, Khakassia, the Altai Republic, Komi, Moscow Region, Crimea, Tyva, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Adygea.

The stable regions already include 58 regions. Now the situation has been settled, the number of daily detected cases and deaths is significantly decreasing, the scientist emphasized.

He also pointed to the normalization of the situation in St. Petersburg, where there was an unnatural long and flat plateau that lasted more than a month.

14 regions are among the regions with satisfactory dynamics. Among them are Stavropol Territory, Nizhny Novgorod Region, Sevastopol, Belgorod Region, Kursk Region, Chechnya, Smolensk Region, Khabarovsk Territory, Saratov Region, Penza Region, Bashkortostan, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Lipetsk Region, Irkutsk Region.

Tavadyan stressed that the most difficult situation and negative dynamics persist in the Kostroma region, in the Jewish Autonomous Region and in Chukotka.
