Interim reports Chemical manufacturer Kemira’s net sales and operating profit decreased, due to, among other things, supply chain disruptions

Kemira expects revenue growth throughout this year.

Chemistry Kemira’s net sales and operating profit decreased in the first half of the year.

Net sales decreased by six percent to EUR 606.1 million. Kemira’s operating profit decreased by eight percent to EUR 55.7 million. earnings per share were eur 0.25.

President and CEO of Kemira Jari Rosendal says demand recovered in the early part of the year compared with October-December. The challenges for the company in the early part of the year were the continuation of the pandemic, global disruptions in supply chains and logistics challenges in North America.

“EBITDA was EUR 105 million and EBITDA margin was 17.3 percent due to good cost management and recovering demand,” says Rosendal.

According to the company, the large decrease in net sales was mainly due to the currency effect. In local currencies, excluding acquisitions and divestments, revenue decreased 2 percent due to lower sales prices.

The largest decrease was in the net sales of the oil and gas business, which decreased by ten percent.

Kemira maintains its outlook and expects net sales to grow this year from 2020, when it was EUR 2.4 billion. EBITDA is expected to be at the same level or slightly lower than last year, when it was EUR 435 million.
