A German expert confirmed that in the wake of the fiasco of the European Super League scheme, football fans will likely become more daring in expressing their feelings about the organizers’ plans.
“It is expected that when the masses return to the stands, the protests will be visible and audible,” said Michael Gabriel, director of the project office for the coordination project for German audiences.
Fans consider the frustration of the plan to launch the European Super League just a step in a long road, as fans feel that professional football is going in the wrong direction, according to Gabriel.
“The momentum is in the masses at the moment. We see intense cooperation between many groups, not only in Germany, but all over Europe. It will be interesting to see if new political alliances will be established as well,” he added.
Gabriel confirmed that politicians such as French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stood by the crowd on the issue of the European Super League and the issue of the amendments to the European Champions League.
