Vantaa has not been able to hire permanent staff for all vacancies.
Health stations long patient queues are an issue of duration in Vantaa.
Based on Helsingin Sanomat’s election machine, the vast majority of candidates would be willing to hire more doctors and nurses, even if the costs to the city were considerable.
Actually, based on the average of the responses, no party disagreed on hiring additional staff. There were some candidates in the Coalition Party and the RCP who believe that more effective action or co-operation with the private side will improve the situation.
The greatest sympathy for the hiring of doctors and nurses came, as expected, from the Left Alliance, the Demars and the Greens. Of the small parties, the Feminist Party, the Blues, the Communists, and the Pirate Party were also in favor of hiring additional people, even if the city’s spending increased significantly.
Social and Health Committee current chairman Pirkko Letto (sd) commented in his election election response that remote services certainly need to be developed and more deployed. He was convinced of the need for more people.
“The growth of Vantaa’s population also means an increase in the need for health services. Doctors and nurses provide health services, the number of which must be increased so that the quality and quantity of services remain at a good level; local residents receive the care they need at the right time,”
Vice-Chairman of the Board Maarit Ranta-aho (Kok) recalls that in the reform of the Elderly Services Act, the change in caregiver sizing means hiring 500 new caregivers for housing services. Doctors and social workers are also needed for child protection.
In the Coalition Party candidates, the need to recruit causes scattering. Vice-Chairman of the Board Carita Orlando (kok) somewhat disagrees. In his opinion, Vantaa needs to increase its efficiency and purchase services from the private sector in order to be cost-effective.
In the greens and in the Left Alliance, hiring new workers for health care is seen as necessary.
Accredited Eve Rämö (green) deprives the city of a better employer policy to fill applicants for vacancies.
“Vantaa health centers have been in crisis in some places and there is no access to treatment. The problem is that there are no newcomers to the vacancies. Vantaa must therefore have a better employer policy in order to be an attractive employer. ”
Deputy Mayor of Vantaa Timo Aronkytö confirms that there is a shortage of medical staff in the Helsinki metropolitan area. A couple of percent of the permanent vacancies for doctors are unfilled.
Chairman of the Left Alliance Council Group Antero Eerola (left) does not even consider the allegation of high costs for additional staff relevant.
“Hiring additional doctors and nurses does not incur significant additional costs. The appropriations needed to dismantle the queues are not even very high. It is a matter of political will. “
Small parties Of the three candidates for the Crystal Party Leena Fredriksson (crystal) would be willing to add doctors and nurses if they represent alternative medicine or organic treatments.
Christian Democrats Jouko Jääskeläinen (kd) fully agrees with the hiring of nurses and doctors. However, he doubts the effectiveness of recruitment.
“As long as we get them to come to us, enough,” Jääskeläinen commented in his election machine response.
