The OAB (Order of Lawyers of Brazil) sectioned in the Federal District filed this Wednesday (June 30, 2021) with a public civil action to force the GDF (Government of the Federal District) to stop requiring registration for vaccination by age. here is the whole (5,549 KB).
According to lawyers, the requirement of prior registration for vaccination against covid-19 is not legally supported. According to the Order, this method causes social segregation and prevents the entire population from receiving immunizing applications.
The OAB-DF also questioned the lack of technical criteria in defining priority groups and the lack of publicity for these parameters. The entity argues that there is inefficiency in the scheduling system and management problems and, according to them, these factors contribute to the slow progress of immunization in the capital of Brazil.
“Clearly the delay of the District Executive Branch, not only in establishing a definitive vaccination plan at the local level, but also in guaranteeing the effective access of the population of Brasilia to the vaccine, by imposing registration in ineffective systems and causing segregation to those disadvantaged for access technological, has shortened lives”, said the representatives of the Order.
The Health Department of the Federal District informed the power360 that the clarifications will be provided to the Court within the established period.
The folder claims that it vaccinated the elderly population aged 80 to 60 years without the need for scheduling and noted that, on several occasions, there was a lot of crowding at the vaccine points, “including creating a risk for the elderly”. For this reason, the GDF considers the decision to continue the schedule to be the right one at the moment.
The Health Department says that the creation of a calendar, that is, the definition of a medium and long-term schedule would only be possible if there was a schedule from the Ministry of Health for the delivery of vaccines.
“The disclosure of the vaccination schedule generated turmoil and confusion at the vaccination posts in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro due to lack of doses to meet the schedule”, informed in a note.
