A rare edition of the book “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”, the first adventure in the saga written by JK Rowling, was sold this Wednesday (28) for 80 thousand pounds (R$ 566 thousand) at an auction in the United Kingdom. Printed in 1997, the edition is part of a 500-unit batch and was in perfect condition.
According to Leyburn Tennants Auctioneers (the house responsible for the auction), the book is signed by Rowling when she was still using “Joanne” on the inside of the book’s information and the sale price was one of the highest for one of the works produced by the author.

The rare edition was valued at 25,000 pounds by Leyburn Tennants Auctioneers, but the value of the final finish was three times higher than the value evaluated and surpassed the most expensive edition previously sold in the UK – 68,000 pounds in a 2020 auction for a similar copy.
According to the BBC, the most expensive edition of Harry Potter recorded in Europe sold for 125,000 pounds (R$886,000) last year in Edinburgh.
