Sotnikov’s crew won the Silk Way Rally-Raid in the truck category

The crew of the KAMAZ-master team led by Dmitry Sotnikov on Tuesday, July 6, won the Silk Way rally-raid in the truck category. It is reported by “Sport-Express“.

Sotnikov performed on the team’s new truck with a K5 family cab. In the final race, he showed the third result, losing in time to Belarusian Sergei Vyazovich in MAZ (1 hour 28 minutes 14 seconds), as well as to another KAMAZ-master crew – under the control of Anton Shibalov.

However, according to the total time (6 hours 59 minutes 53 seconds) Sotnikov took first place, Vyazovich became the second (+4.36), Shibalov – in third place (+5.37).

“We managed to justify the efforts of the team, for several months everyone worked very hard, day and night. Therefore, this award is for our entire team, for all fans, for everyone who helped build the car, “Sotnikov is quoted as saying in the KAMAZ-master press service.

According to him, not a single technical problem was noted during the race.

All three stages of the Silk Way Rally-Raid took place in Russia, and the decision to hold part of the route in Mongolia was canceled. The decision was reported to be related to the spread of COVID-19 and cases of bubonic plague in Mongolia.

On July 1, the participants of the Silk Way Rally started from Omsk. The riders took part in the rally in off-road vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, buggies. There are 41 teams in total. The Russian KAMAZ-master auto racing team was represented by seven crews. Among them are not only experienced Russian racers, but also those for whom participation in the rally was a debut.

The Silk Way Rally has been held since 2009. The race was canceled last year due to the pandemic.
