Fraud helpdesk reports suspected fraud with own number

Scammers seem to be cheating with the number of the Fraud Helpdesk, the counter reported tonight. The suspected criminals pretend to call the desk’s 06 number, using a technique called ‘spoofing’. This allows recipients of the call to see the desk’s number on their mobile, making it appear as if they are being called by a reliable party.
