German Lilium, an air taxi company that uses electric motors, was listed on the Nasdaq technology exchange in the United States on Wednesday.
The Munich-based startup went to the stock exchange faster than expected after it merged with the spac-form Qell company already listed on the stock exchange.
Spac stands for Special Purpose Acquisition Company.
Spaces are companies that raise capital from investors and list on a stock exchange to then use the funds raised to acquire an interesting company.
In a merger the resulting company was valued at $ 3.3 billion, or about $ 2.8 billion, the German Bild says.
At the end of Lilium’s first trading day, the company’s market capitalization rose to $ 2.88 billion as the price rose from a starting price of $ 9.08 to $ 9.31.

According to Bild magazine, Lilium is planning to start operations in Florida with the airport company Ferrovia.
Brazilian Azul has said it wants to buy 220 Lilium electric planes for $ 1 billion and is looking for a strategic partnership with Lilium.
Yet in July, the German magazine Welt am Sonntag reported that Lilium was suffering from a shortage of money.
The company currently employs about 400 engineers, Electriveonline media says. According to it, Lilium aims for transports within a radius of about 300 kilometers.
Lilium is also involved in the Customcells battery project, which has attracted the attention of Porsche and Manz. These special energy-intensive batteries made in Germany charge quickly.
