Baerbock’s Greens break into polls, SPD benefits: “Politbarometer” shows historical overtaking maneuvers

70 percent of those questioned want Olaf Scholz as Chancellor. However, a clear majority would find a coalition with the left to be bad.

Mainz – Armin Laschet presented his team this Friday morning. The ultimate goal: at least to stop the downward trend in the polls. ARD and ZDF published their latest surveys a few hours beforehand. Result: The Union is not only overtaken by the SPD in the “Trend Barometer”, but also in the “Politbarometer” – for the first time in two decades ..

If there were to be a general election next Sunday, the SPD would increase by three percentage points to 25 percent compared to the previous week. The party would be the strongest force for the first time since September 2002. The CDU / CSU, on the other hand, remains in the “Politbarometer” at 22 percent.

The other results:

  • Greens: 17 percent (-3 points)
  • FDP: 11 percent (+1 point)
  • AfD: 11 percent (unchanged)
  • Left: 7 percent (+1 point)

Survey: majority assumes red-green-red if the SPD wins

That would give a slim majority for a GroKo. However, it is considered unlikely that the Union and SPD want to continue their government alliance. According to the “Politbarometer”, it would also be enough for a traffic light coalition made up of the SPD, the Greens and the FDP, a Jamaica alliance made up of the CDU / CSU, the Greens and the FDP and for red-green-red.

Almost two thirds of those surveyed (63 percent) assume that the SPD would try to form a government with the Greens and the Left if there was a corresponding majority after the federal election. 30 percent doubt this. However, a majority of 57 percent would find such a coalition bad.

Of the SPD supporters, too, 50 percent are against red-green-red. Only 36 percent believe that the SPD should rule out a government with the participation of the left before the election. In contrast, 57 percent are of the opinion that the SPD should not commit itself on this issue. Among the SPD supporters, the proportion is 63 percent.

“Politbarometer” (ZDF): Scholz at 70, Laschet at 25 percent

The soaring of SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz also continues in the “Politbarometer”. After 65 percent a week ago, 70 percent now trust Scholz to take over the office. Union candidate Armin Laschet comes to 25 percent, Green applicant Annalena Baerbock is 23 percent.

The SPD candidate is also up on the K question: 53 percent of those surveyed would prefer to be Scholz as Chancellor, while Laschet would like only 18 percent. Only 14 percent prefer the Green candidate Baerbock.

The research group Elections surveyed 1,301 eligible voters for the “Politbarometer” from Tuesday to Thursday. According to the information, the statistical error range is a value of 40 percent with three percentage points, with ten percent with two points. (frs / AFP)
