Robot spawns in Singapore

On September 5, an experiment with the participation of a robot began in Singapore, which will monitor the observance of the rules of public behavior in one of the districts of the city-state. The project was sponsored by the local Science and Technology Agency, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Land Transport Authority, and the Food Agency.

The Javier robot is equipped with night vision devices. It will record violations such as smoking in the wrong place, movement of vehicles on the sidewalk, facts of illegal trade and violations related to restrictions on coronavirus around the clock.

“This is the first time that an autonomous robot has been used to patrol and survey public places with high traffic in order to improve the health and safety of the population,” said the authors of the project, quoted by The Straits Times

The robot will help reduce the number of people needed to patrol the city. “Javier” will take pictures in real time, if it detects violations, and transfer them to law enforcement agencies.

The developers reported that the device has sensors that allow it to respond to stationary and moving obstacles. The experiment will last for three weeks.

Earlier, on August 20, Tesla Inc announced the appearance in 2022 of a prototype humanoid robot model Tesla Bot of its own design. American entrepreneur and founder of SpaceX Elon Musk said that the height of the robot will be 172 cm, weight – 57 kg, instead of a face – a screen where useful information will be reflected. The legs and arms of the humanoid robot will be controlled by 40 servos. Balance and mobility will provide him with feedback on the efforts being performed.

The entrepreneur noted that the robot will be useful in everyday life. Owners of the development can use the services of a “new family member” who can go to the store and carry out other daily commands.
