The story of Carlos Alberto Duarte (28) has two parts. The first is pre-arrest for robberies; the second, already in freedom. Until the days before his first arrest, in 2013, he was a thief respected by his colleagues from Fuerte Apache, his neighborhood. They nicknamed him “Carlitos Wey” and, according to those who knew him, he had robbed at gunpoint since he was a minor.
But his father, Carlos Fabián Duarte (49), did not tolerate that his son was a thief. To the point of denouncing him and that, for this reason, he was sent to the youth-adult module of the Marcos Paz prison (for men between 18 and 21 years old).
“Carlitos” was released in 2016. And there begins the second part of the story: spoke alone. Neighbors saw him on the balcony of his apartment, or on the streets, always alone. It was spoken to itself and it was answered. Without being professionals, they claimed that he needed psychiatric treatment. This Tuesday night the neighborhood theory would be confirmed.

The inhabitants of the place made the complaint after hearing the screams of the department in which he lived at least with his father, in Monoblock 12 of the Army of Los Andes neighborhood, in Ciudadela (Tres de Febrero), better known as Fuerte Apache. When the police arrived, Carlos Duarte Sr. was dead. He had a stab wound to his neck.
“I have to kill my dad as an offering to San La Muerte to be free“said” Carlitos Wey “, his own son, who was arrested for the crime.
Inside the house they found a kind of makeshift knife, with a white handle and a metal blade tied at one end. That, they suspect, would have been the murder weapon.

It all happened this Tuesday night. The young man, with addiction problems and a violent history, had threatened his father, who lived in 1 ° C, on several occasions.
Judicial sources confirmed to Clarion that his investigation was suspended based on the request of his defense, to evaluate him psychiatrically and psychologically before taking a statement.
Meanwhile, he will continue to be detained at the 3rd police station. of February Three. The cause is captioned as “aggravated homicide“and is investigated by the UFI No. 5 of San Martín. Duarte would face a life sentence, at least if they consider it imputable.

During the afternoon, Clarion He communicated with different residents of Fuerte Apache who know the details of the story. One of the things they claim is that “Carlitos Wey“He would have tried to commit suicide in the Marcos Paz prison. The version says that he threw himself from the first floor, head first. During his stay in the prison, he would have suffered all kinds of aberrations.
During the three years of his sentence, Duarte Sr. did not miss a single visit. He came and went in the car that “Carlitos” was moving before he was arrested, bought with the booties from his robberies. The neighborhood, for its part, criticized him. They did not understand how he had been able to denounce his own son.
When he regained his freedom and returned to the neighborhood, he was a different person. “You would get together to smoke a joint with him and he would talk to you about the pyramids of Egypt, or he would use Colombian words, as if he were of that nationality. Like I had a split personality“says a young man who last saw him two weeks ago.
“He was never a believer in San La Muerte,” says a friend from his pre-arrest stage. “He must have said that because of his madness. He was very bad. He was in no condition to continue at home,” he completes.
In the almost five years he had been free, “Carlitos” would have left home at least once. And on another occasion he would even have attacked his father with a blade. This time it was deadly.
