Artist Fools Paradise is responsible for these fantastic crossovers with the Nintendo character.
When we talk about Mario, we mean the most famous character in video games. Super Mario is already more than 35 years old, which is said soon, and his figure has transcended to video games, becoming an icon of both Japan and pop culture in general. This has led to plumber to star in countless artistic representations and be the image of a generation.
The urban art has not stopped drinking from the pop culture and this in turn of the video games and cinema, and it is these worlds that are combined in the designer’s work Fools paradise, featuring a series of figures inspired by cult classics of modern cinema reimagined as if they had been starring Mario and other characters from the Nintendo franchise.
Numerous scenes from iconic cinema movies starring MarioThe artist has represented numerous movie scenes that are themselves already an icon of popular culture: from Quentin Tarantino’s most famous work, we have the dance between Uma Thurman and John Travolta as Mia Wallace and Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction, the scene of Juls and Vicent drawing their pistols, which has given rise to countless posters, graffiti and artistic reinterpretations. But we have also seen Forrest Gump on the bench, in his classic movie opening scene from Spielberg, plus a version of the character when he decides to go running across the country.
From Luc Besson’s cult classic, we have also seen Léon The Professional together with Mathilda, the character played by Natalie Portman. Total challenge, another icon of cinema, is also represented by the scene in which she discovers her costume, in addition to other unforgettable moments of the cinema such as that of Jack Nicholson peeking through the door hole in The glow. All these scenes are sculpted in vinyl on oversized figures and with an original design, in which Fool Paradise mixes multitude of references from cinema to manga and video games, making Mario his fetish actor.
