El Debate – Bolsonaro, in the crosshairs of Justice for the mismanagement of the pandemic

First modification:

The president of Brazil is once again against the wall for the denialist approach he gave to the management of the Covid-19 pandemic. After six months of investigations, a Senate commission that investigated the performance of the president in his handling of the health emergency presented its final report in which it indicated that it had found very serious irregularities that led to the suggestion that the president should be charged with crimes against humanity and eight more crimes.

The document was approved by seven votes in favor and four against. After this approval, it was referred to the ordinary Justice, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Supreme Court and even the International Criminal Court.

Not only Bolsonaro is accused of the facts, but also 78 other people and two companies.

The president of the Brazilians is accused of nine crimes, all typified in the Brazilian Penal Code: violation of sanitary measures, medical quackery, incitement to crime, epidemic with death results, falsification of documents, irregular use of public money, prevarication and attacks against the dignity of the office.

What options does Bolsonaro have? What procedure can you have in the Justice? What future will the president have? Why was this instance reached? The political situation in Brazil and the accusations against the president are the topics that we analyze in this edition of El Debate with the help of our guests:

– Eugenio Aragao, lawyer for the Workers’ Party and former Minister of Justice during Dilma Rousseff’s term.

– Heitor Freire, federal deputy for the Social Liberal Party.

-And in the study of France 24, we are accompanied by Julio Cesar Gomes Dos Santos, a Brazilian political scientist, graduated from the Diplomatic Academy of Brazil.
