Russian president Vladimir Putin has ordered gas giant Gazprom to increase its gas supplies to Germany and Austria in November, international news agencies say.
Gazprom will increase deliveries after storing enough gas for Russia.
Putin told Gazprom’s CEO at a televised meeting of Russian energy leaders on Wednesday Alexei Millerthat the company should fill Russian gas reserves by November 8 and thereafter gradually begin to increase Gazprom’s stock levels in Austria and Germany.
Putin At the meeting, Gazprom estimated that, after that date, Gazprom could meet its obligations for European gas supplies in the autumn and winter.
Putin also estimates that Russian supplies would create a “more favorable situation” for the entire European energy market.

Gas the price of spot gas used in Europe as a reference price in the Netherlands has risen by 365% since the beginning of this year. The European gas crisis has been caused by low gas stocks and recovery from the pandemic.
In Europe, Russia has been accused of exacerbating the gas crisis. Russia is suspected of withholding supplies to put pressure on European countries for longer-term supply contracts and to speed up the process of approving the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
