Putin awarded Butman with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree

Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the Artistic Director of the Moscow Jazz Orchestra Igor Butman with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree.

“For his great contribution to the development of domestic culture and art, many years of fruitful activity, to award the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, IV degree, Butman Igor Mikhailovich – the artistic director of the state budgetary institution of culture of the city of Moscow” Moscow Jazz Orchestra under the direction of I. Butman, ” the presidential decree posted on the official Internet portal of legal information.

Saxophonist and People’s Artist Butman is the art director of Moscow jazz clubs – Igor Butman’s Jazz Club on Taganka and Igor Butman’s Jazz Club on Polyanka.

He has 17 solo albums, including the album Magic Land recorded with Chick Corea, Jack Dejonnette, John Patitucci, Stephon Harris and Randy Brecker. Founded in 1999, Butman’s Big Band has been called the Moscow Jazz Orchestra since 2012.

On October 14, Putin issued a decree on awarding the host of the KVN program, Alexander Maslyakov, with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st degree. The award allowed Maslyakov to become a full knight of this order.
