Pop roared from the buckets, the drums caught on, and the grown-up crowd in the galleries of Vantaa’s Lumo Hall enjoyed a full sip of an unrestricted return to volleyball entertainment.
There weren’t many turquoise chairs left unfilled on Friday night when the Vantaa Ducks triumphantly opened the men’s championship season in front of its loud home crowd. Last season’s Nelonen defeated Oulu Ettan 3–2, and the lots ended 18–25, 25–20, 25–22, 23–25 and 15–10.
“Cool when you heard the voice of someone other than your own team,” he noted Aleksander Rastamo after a nuanced and tight measure.
