The number of corona cases in the southwest is increasing significantly. An important threshold for the occupancy of intensive care beds with Covid patients has now been exceeded repeatedly. With effects especially for the unvaccinated.
Stuttgart – In Baden-Württemberg, the corona warning level comes into force on Wednesday. The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care units today exceeded 250 for the second working day in a row, according to a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health in Stuttgart.
This means that stricter rules will apply again in the future, especially for those who have not been vaccinated. Health Minister Manne Lucha (Greens) announced on Tuesday that the first critical mark has been reached and the situation in the hospitals is tense. “We are currently experiencing a pandemic for the unvaccinated. We can see that not only in the separately reported incidence values, but also in the intensive care units. ”Almost without exception, there are non-vaccinated patients with a severe course, says Lucha. It is therefore clear that one must start with the restrictions with the non-vaccinated. “They are the drivers of the pandemic and put a strain on the health system,” said the Minister of Health.
For unvaccinated people, the warning level means more extensive testing obligations and the return of contact restrictions. Anyone who has not been vaccinated or recovered will in future have to show a PCR test for numerous leisure activities in closed rooms, such as in restaurants, cinemas or swimming pools. A quick test is then no longer sufficient.
In addition, the stricter rules provide for contact restrictions to one household and five other people. Vaccinated and Genesis as well as people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons are excluded. Children and young people up to the age of 17 are also not included. dpa
