Para – sports The International Athletics Federation banned Blake Leeper from using a special leg prosthesis in value competitions – both legs of the runner have been amputated from the knee down

Leeper’s both legs have been amputated from the knee down. With the help of prostheses, he learned to walk at the age of nine months.

American parayment athlete Blake Leeper may not use their custom-made prostheses in the Paralympics or other competitions.

The review panel of the International Federation of Athletics (WA) ruled on Monday that Leeper’s elastic carbon fiber prostheses give him too much of an advantage over its competitors.

Leeper is allowed to use his prostheses in other international competitions, but his results are not record-breaking.

At the 2012 Paralympics in London, Leeper won bronze in the 200 meters and silver in the 400 meters, losing to the South African To Oscar Pistorius.

Prior to the Paralympics, Pistorius also competed in the 400m for the Disabled Olympics, where he ran a record of 45.07 seconds but was eliminated from the final.

Leeper set a goal to run under Pistorian time, where he also later succeeded. In his time at 44.38, Leeper would have easily made it to the U.S. team at the Rio Olympics, but he grumbled about cocaine use.

Leeperin, 31, both legs are amputated from the knee down. With the help of prostheses, he learned to walk at the age of nine months.

In running prostheses, Leeper’s sole is 104 cents long and his total length is 184 cents.

In its decision, WA also takes into account the so-called Mash rule (Maximum Allowable Standing Height), which determines the maximum length of a para-athlete with dentures.

According to WA, the Leeper running height should not exceed 174.4 cents.

Last year, Leeper applied for a special right to compete in the 400m at the Tokyo Summer Olympics. The Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) dismissed his claim precisely because of the special shoulder prostheses.
