Russians have dramatically increased spending on one product

Before the long weekend in May, Russians sharply increased their spending on one item. As reported RIA News, citizens have increased their purchases of seeds by several times, since they are going to spend their free time at their dachas.

According to the online hypermarket VseInstrumenty.ru, after it became clear about the increase in May holidays, sales of seeds (from 23 to 25 April) increased by 162 percent compared to the same period last year. Moreover, the most active buyers were seeds of cucumbers, radishes, tomatoes and beans. And residents of Moscow and the region more often bought flowers: carnations, violets and others.

Marketplace Ozon stated that purchases of seeds increased by 1.3 times, and goods for the garden – by 2.6 times year-on-year. “In general, in 3 days, Russians purchased online a record 130 thousand units of various goods for summer cottages, which is 2.2 times more than in the same period in 2020,” Wildberries noted.

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared all days from 1 to 10 May non-working. He signed the corresponding decree on the evening of April 23. Thus, the Russians will rest for 10 days on holidays. The first working day will be Tuesday, May 11th. April 30 will be a pre-holiday day, the working day will be shorter by one hour. Initially, the Russians were supposed to rest from 1 to 3 and from 8 to 10 May.
