Police Jorma Huttunen and seven other Finns tell what they saw in New York on September 11, 2001 and what traces the events left.

Jorma Huttunen, Chief of Staff, 54:

“On September 11, I was already up in four countries in the morning, as the shooting drills of our unit in the Bronx started at six. I had started my studies at the NYPD Police School in July.

When the first tower was struck at half past eight, the entire company was ordered inside. 300 current and future police officers were present at the exercises. Soon there were school buses that we boarded. We were transported to the scene of the attacks for work. On the way, the personal information of the closest relatives was asked on the bus – in case the working day was last.
